Floating Concrete
Dare to dream beyond the usual?? Then make a unsinkable concrete boat.
Rules and Regulations
1. Participants are required to prepare the concrete boat.
2. Participants are requested to send an abstract regarding the materials used, mix proportion of the mortar, flow and compressive strength of the mortar and the method of construction of boat to our official email id civiltechnovation2k13@gmail.com.
3. Participants are required to submit the concrete boat for testing in REGISTRATION DESK during Technovation'2013.
4. Then the boat is weighed followed by testing which is the second round.
5. Design a boat that abides by the given specifications.
6. The structure should be able to float on water with its self weight alone (i.e. before loading it).
7. The boat should constitute of cement and sand as primary constituents.
8. It may have any other materials as its secondary constituents.
Specifications
1. Boat should fit into a box of 35cm X 10cm X 5cm.
2. Minimum length of the boat is 15cm.
3. The boat should be able to carry a certain amount of load prior to sinking.
4. There should not be any leakage from the sides and bases.
5. A maximum of 3 participants per team is allowed (number of teams per college is not restricted).
6. Participants are required to submit an abstract through mail regarding the materials used , mix proportion of the mortar, flow and compressive strength of the mortar and the method of construction of boat.
7. The boat is then weighed followed by testing which is the second round.
