About the Department
THE MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
The Mechanical Engineering Department was established in the year 1998. The Department offers 4 year B.E Degree course in Mechanical Engineering and 2 year Master Degree programmes in CAD/CAM and Engineering Design. Due to Infrastructure, Facilities and Faculty, the Department has secured Anna University Permanent Affiliation in the year 2005 – 2006. Dedicated and Experienced faculty, 4 of them with Ph.D degrees and 16 others with M.E/ M.Tech degrees, drawn from industries and reputed academic institutions form the backbone of the department. The department has 21 Laboratories created with futuristic vision. The students of the mechanical engineering department are well molded for the industrial environment by making industrial visits mandatory and by encouraging them to undergo industrial training and do industry projects. Their creativity is also kindled by encouraging them to participate in inter-college competitions, mini project exhibitions, etc. The department also organizes several training program, workshops, seminars, conferences, symposiums, etc for staff and students every year. The department has received funds from AICTE to carry out research projects.

The College
The college was started in 1998, with 180 students, 18 staff and 4 branches of B,E.. In a short time span it has grown in size and stature and has present more than 2515 students are studying in 6 branches of B.E., B.Tech., M.E., MCA, M.Sc (Software Engineering), M.Sc (Computer Technology), MBA, B.Sc. Information Technology and B.Sc Computer Technology. To meet the rise in the student's strength, the faculty strength has also risen to 175. There is a good team of supporting staff to assist the departmental work. The college has already carved a niche amongst the public, AICTE, DOTE and the university.
Location
Situated at Sugunapuram in Kuniamuthur. The campus is 1 km off the NH 47 connecting Coimbatore and Palakkad and 3 km's off the NH 209 connecting Coimbatore and Pollachi. 8 Km's from the Coimbatore Railway Station 12 Kms from the Central Bus Station, Gandhipuram 18 Km's from the Airport And well connected by city buses and mini-buses
