Rules

• A maximum of two authors per paper is allowed.
• The abstract of respected paper should be sent within 17.09.13 to mexplodev2@gmail.com
• Subject of the email should contain Stream [Thermal], [Engineering Design], [Manufacturing] etc.
• The abstract should contain Title of paper, category within, Author(s) Name, Institution Name, Contact Number.
• Abstract should be in IEEE format, Participations should send full abstract.
• The selected papers will be intimated within 21.09.13.
• Any extension from the allotted time will lose the points.
• Two hardcopies are necessary during the event day.
• 5 Minutes of presentation with 2 Minutes of question-answer section.
• Authors of various institutions can form a team.

Project Presentation

        Why is Albert Einstein famous? It was because of the fact that he could find out the Theory of relativity as a teen while the others couldn't!! This particular contest is a tribute to Sir Albert Einstein where young minds are encouraged to showcase their talents in the technical field and come up with something innovative just like how Sir Albert Einstein did!!!

        So budding Engineers here`s the platform for you!!! The times have come for you to Wake up and arise!!!!! Shows case your master piece and await the moment of being called the LITTLE EINSTEIN!!

Technical Quiz

        Come over here to check the depth of your knowledge, width of your consciousness and length of your thinking. A fun filled event which involves everything from machines to movies, from cars to casts and many more things with some emphasize on technical stuff. Register to get some technical gaming experience and to discover the engineer in you.

Rules

• Maximum of two members per team.
• Cross college teams are not allowed.
• Students should carry their college Identity Cards.
• The questions shall be in the form multiple choices, true/false, specific answer questions.
• The questionnaire consists of 30 questions. Each answer carries one mark. The first four teams will be selected for the finals.
• No negative markings.
• Maximum time limit: 30 minutes.
• The questions will be asked from all fields like basic engineering, aptitude, daily happenings and also entertainment.
• Top Four Teams are qualified for the finals.

Event Format

Round-1

• Each team will be asked four questions.
• 10 Marks for correct answer.
• If a team cannot answer a question, the question will be passed to the next team. 5 points will be awarded to the answering team.
• Answering time is 30 seconds.
• Top three teams qualify for round-2.

Round-2 : Final round

• Each team will be asked four questions.
• 10 Marks for correct answers.
• It will be a rapid-fire round.
• Unanswered questions will be passed to the next team. 5 Marks will be provided to the team answering the question.

Lab Works

        Are you a true engineer with sound knowledge in core areas of mechanical engineering? Here's the chance to prove those who asked you this question!! Here in MEXPLODE, we present this core event to tag you Mr. Mechanicz. This is an event which tests the roots of your knowledge in basic laboratory problems with welding, plumbing, carpentry, fluid mechanics, and lathe shop.

Rules

• Two members per team.
• It's a three round event.
• Team mates can be from different colleges.
• Participant from Any Stream of engineering with sound knowledge in Mechanical engineering can participate.

Event Format

Round-1

• A questionnaire should be answered within the stipulated time.

Round-2

• Participants will be asked to identify a set of components displayed.

Round-3

• Teams will be shortlisted based on their cumulative scores and will be given an onsite problem, which is to be solved with help of basic laboratory practices.

RC Racing

- Aryton Senna

        How many of you feel the same as "Mr. Aryton senna"? Hop into the prix. A chance to throttle your bravery. Enough of playing on the screens, enjoy the reality of the racing experience.

Rules

• Maximum of Five Members per team.
• A team is allowed to operate only one car.
• Participants can be from different institutions.
• Every participant must produce the recognized institution's Identity Card.
• Any team that is not ready at the time of the competition will be eliminated from the competition.
• Any disintegration of the vehicle inside the track is subjected to disqualification.
• Only one foul start is allowed in a race.
• Resulting in more than one foul start will disqualify the team.
• The teams must obey the rules and maintain healthy conduct in the event, any misbehavior or indulging in any malpractice would result in elimination of the team.
• The above rules are subject to change and the coordinators of this event reserve the right to change any or all the above rules according to the necessity. Change of rules (if any) will be updated on the site and will be notified to all the participants.
• The decision of the judges will be the final.

Vehicle specifications

Line Follower

        The line follower robot is to be complete the track in the shortest time while accurately tracking the course line from start to finish wins.

Rules

• Maximum 3 members per team.
• Inter college teams are allowed.
• Maximum of 4 motors can be used.
• Robot size: 200mm X 200mm X 200mm.
• Battery specifications: 12 v DC battery.
• Line followers must be self contained and not externally operated by wire or remote radio control during the race.
• No AC power supply will be provided by the host.The robot can use only DC battery as source.
• All the necessary kits must be brought by the participants.
• Participants are requested to be presented in the venue half an hour before the event starts.
• Judges decision will be final.

Engine Assembly

- Anonymous

        A pure mechanical event which tests your technical skill of assembling engine parts.

Rules

• Maximum of 3 members per team.

Event Format

Round 1

• First round will be a technical written round.
• Teams clearing it will be eligible to appear for the second round.

Round 2

• Second round will be a practical event in which the participants need to apply their technical knowledge to assemble the dismantled mechanical parts in given time.

CAD Modelling

        Can you imagine Mechanical engineering without drawings? Never!! Cadster in MEXPLODE v2.0 provides you a platform to test your skills in the field of design. The event allows you to think out of box and design the displayed product by implementing your ideas which will showcase your imaginative skills, creativity, that will help you design the given model.

Rules

• A Maximum of two participants a team.
• Software's used are: Pro-E, CATIA and Solid Works.

Event Description

Round-1

• A 2D component will be given to you in a drawing sheet. The team should convert it to 3D and draft with a drawing view.

Round-2

• Most similar drafts will be shortlisted and will be called for second round. A live problem will be given to solve within allotted duration.

A large private sector enterprise would like to explore new growth avenues in major world markets with a specific focus on India, with a view of pursuing ambitious growth trajectories, addressing larger market-place opportunities and contributing significantly to larger socio-economic needs.

Rules

• Maximum of 5 members per team.
• The presentation should not exceed 15 minutes.
• Each participant should play his/her individual role in the company.
• The company's product and raw material should be from Indian market/Indian oriented market.

• Balance sheet (for the time period of 5 yrs) should be submitted in hard copy and it is optional in the presentation.

Technical Debate Contest

        "Support your knowledge about the technical things happening around you with substantial reasons"

Rules

• First round will comprises of written prelims for 30 mins.
• Maximum 2 members in a team, Individual participants appreciated.
• Test will be based on Technical topics.
• Selected team or individual will be called for technical debate where any mechanical based topic will be given for debate.
• Preparation time of 15 Mins will be allocated.
• Presenting the base knowledge about the topics will carry points.
• Using English with clear presenting ideas will carry greater points.
• Judges decision will be final.

Contraption

        Sometimes it is easy to make it simple but difficult to make it complicated, this is what contraption is all about; to do things in the most complicated way, through as many energy conversions as possible. The beauty of this event is not in its simplicity but its complexity.

Goal : To form text MEXPLODE.

Rules

• Send the abstracts to mexplodev2@gmail.com within 17-9-13.
• The entire contraption to include should remain completely within a Square whose dimensions are 4m x 4m at any point of operation.
• Once the first step has been initiated, intervention of any sort in the following steps would lead to deduction in points.
• An initial setup time of 180 minutes will be given for each team. In addition to this, a setup time of 25 minutes will be given for every team before each trial.
• Maximum of 2 trials would be allowed for each team.
• The total trial time taken for task should not exceed 10 minutes.
• 220 volts AC supply would be provided at the event venue.
• Teams may use commercially available machines as individual parts of your contraption.
• Any questionable items must be given prior consent by the event manager.
• If you have any special requirements inform us well in advance. It will be taken care of. Extension cords, scissors, tape etc. are requested to be brought.
• Teams have to submit a report at the time of the competition which will contain a detailed description of each of the steps and energy conversions in the arrangement.
• Teams are encouraged to support their report with indicative diagrams.
• All the materials required for the arrangement should be brought by the corresponding team.
• Teams are NOT allowed to share any material. No material will be provided by the organizers.
• Contestants are responsible for removing their arrangement and any debris left after the completion of their 2 rounds.
• In case of any manual interventions during the run, points will be deducted and the team will have to go for the next run if there are more than 5 interventions.
• The third trial may be prompted upon the request of the team which may lead to reduction of points(subjected to limited time period).
• Judges decision will be final and binding.
• The organizers reserve the rights to change any or all of the above rules as they deem fit.

Circuit Contest

        Finding faults is a bit of a talent we say! Don't you accept? Of course, for doing that you have to know what perfection means and if you are the ultimate household electrician changing phases, removing fuses, and the one who replaces bulbs. If you think you have got that skill, meet us at the circuit debugging challenge!

You would have crammed your heads enough with the endless printouts, photocopies and books, now is the time to throw your ideas to the real dimension. No more connecting capacitors and resistors just on sheets but on actual PCBs!

Rules

• It is an individual event.
• The prelims will be a written test which includes circuit designing, determination of parameters in a circuit.
• Five individuals will be selected from the prelims.
• The final round will be circuit debugging.

Programming Contest

        It is time to show your talents in programming skills.

Rules

• Each team may contain Maximum of two members.
• The teams are not allowed to carry any study materials with them during the event.
• 15 minutes for answering 50 questions in Round 1.
• Judges decision will be final and the participants violating the rules will be disqualified.

Round-1

• A preliminary test will be conducted for the teams.
• The test will be based on the topics related to Computer Science and Information Technology departments.
• It will be multiple choice questions.

Round-2

• Top 10 teams will be sorted out and they will be participating in Round 2.
• In this stage each team will be given certain instructions and solve the program.
• Viva may be conducted.
